The bowl was super good and decently sized. Everything tasted very fresh and tasty. The scoops weren't too big or too small so it was easy to finish without getting overwhelmed. I can't wait to visit again soon!!
I have tried many poke restaurants in Houston before. But here is a good place for you to create your own poke bowl with different amazing sauces. Staffs were friendly to help me make my bowl even though the store was nearly close at night. First recommendation for everyone is a fan of Hawaii Poke.
After trying this place out, their poke bowls really impressed me that they have become my go-to whenever I am looking for a healthier meal option. Everything always tastes fresh and they provide a good amount too. If you've never tried Poke or have never been a fan, check this place out first because they definitely changed my mind about poke bowls.
This review is for ubereats delivery orders - I always get the large brown rice bowl with scallops, spicy salmon, and/or spicy tuna and then a WHOLE BUNCH of toppings - basically everything except for onions and jalapeno, and it always turns out amazing. I usually mix with salad greens to make my own version of their half-and-half and it is plenty for 2 light(er) meals. I like the freshness of the fish and the flavors, particularly the truffle ponzu sauce!
My to go poke shop. The staff is super attentive, they help you step by step when you have no idea what to order. They offer samples if you're wondering how each food tastes. Their classic tuna is the best seller, it is marinated with their special house sauce topped with some scallions and sesame seeds- yum!! They can also mix the sauces for you so you won't have the chance to complain about the sauce being too spicy or salty anymore. Variety of unlimited toppings. They also give you a punching card so you can keep all your points for a free bowl. Good experience in overall, will definitely come back. Highly recommend.
A solid place to get Poke if you are in the TMC/ Rice area. I love how I can just walk here from Rice to satisfy my poke cravings. They give a solid portion sizes here with a large array of toppings to pick from.
Also, don't be afraid to ask for sauce samples if you are unsure of what you want. Currently they have a discount going depending on what hour you get there so check that out. And if you check in on yelp you get a free fountain drink!
I've been to this location multiple times (during soft opening and grand opening). Every time I can't help but get the half rice/half salad with salmon and tuna. Then, I add a scoop of spicy crab meat and seaweed salad. As for sauces, I've tried the ponzu, spicy ponzu, and spicy mayo because those are my go-to. I have also tried the truffle ponzu which goes so well with the rice! They have a big selection of different veggies and I normally go with cucumber, onions, and green onions. Finally, I like to top it off with masago, crispy onion, extra wasabi and extra roasted garlic. It makes for a great, filling yet light feeling lunch! I'll have to come back sometime for dinner with their evening did.
A must have place for someone in TMC that wants to have a healthy tasty quick bite of fresh poke!
I'm keep returning for my meal:)
House spicy is really spicy, so if it's the first visit maybe start with spicy ponzu. Love the spicy tuna and Salmon! tuna is good too, but tuna is sometimes too healthy for a good rich taste lol.
Will come back and back and back.....
I am not the biggest fan of most poke places because the portions tend to be very small compared to the price tag but I think Poke in the Bowl has it down to a science. I absolutely love the addition of this new poke place in the med center. They are located right next to Halal Guys.
I custom ordered my bowl with spicy tuna, tuna, and salmon with a half and half combo of the greens and white rice. The white rice was cooked to perfection. It really complemented the spicy crab that is scooped amongst a few other additions at the beginning. I also had them add the seaweed salad, furikake, tobiko, masago, and a few of the other accouterments by the time I reached the end of the line.
Price wise it is comparable to a lot of the other sushi places in town but I think you get the most for your buck. There is a surcharge for certain additions like tobiko and extra protein. They have two sized bowls: regular and large. I had the large and I am still full two and half hours later. I cannot wait to make this part of my weekly ritual. They have ample space inside and run very efficiently. Perfect for the afternoons when you don't necessarily want something heavy but still want to eat something filling without the guilt.
The Poke Bowl is delicious, in 5 steps you choose the most amazing food, you can get up to three proteins (3 types of tuna, salmon, yellowtail, shrimp, chicken, tofu). The environment is cool with lots of light, the staff is friendly!
